My love of photography began when I took a class my senior year of high school. I was enamored with the process of creating a photo, capturing that moment in time, and seeing it develop like magic in the darkroom. As a college student, I majored in studio art and took many photography classes. Back then, photography was still mostly film, and we developed and printed our own work. I believe that experience has helped me gain a better appreciation of how a camera captures the moment, and how to use my equipment to its greatest advantage.

Nowadays I work almost exclusively in digital. As the photographer at a local college, I spend my days taking photos of a little of everything--events, portraits, photos of the campus, environmental photos, and more. I have found that my favorite types of photos to take are those that capture people as they really are. As a freelance photographer, I seek work that allows me to do this.

My style is very natural. Whether I'm photographing an event or doing a portrait session, I don't do a lot of directing; rather, I let events unfold around me, and capture what I see with my camera.
